Atlantic Quantum to Provide Quantum Processor Control Software for the US Department of Energy

Atlantic Quantum has been awarded a contract from the US Department of Energy (DOE) to provide control software for quantum processors.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. & GOTHENBURG, Sweden — Atlantic Quantum, a quantum computing hardware company headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, has won a US Department of Energy Office of Science Small Business Technology Transfer contract to provide software for automatic control, calibration and validation of quantum processors.

The work covers the development of an open-source framework capable of defining, scheduling, and executing automatic quantum bit tune-up and benchmarking protocols for intermediate-size quantum processors of tens to hundreds of quantum bits (qubits.) The system will be designed to support the most commonly used quantum computer technologies, while providing customizability to address needs of various platforms.

Atlantic Quantum will work with the Engineering Quantum Systems group at MIT to develop the codebase and help test the system on multiple types of electronics and quantum hardware. Dr. Simon Gustavsson will serve as Principal Investigator for Atlantic Quantum and Dr. Jeffrey Grover will be the Principal Investigator for the MIT group.

The open-source project approach will aim to benefit academic research and the quantum computing research community by providing software tools that help facilitate the realization of near-term quantum computers.
